I have been getting thios error ever since and figured i caught a nasty virus in the moving of the firewall. Anyways, I am surprised to not see this posted on the HP support site. I called and was told this was an XP SP2 issue but they didn't know the resolution. Upon a little searching, I found a MS KB that explains how to fix this issue with the obviously miscoded HP software that appears to be trying to execute code in the wrong memory area. I too saw this post on MS KB, but it is a very generalized solution.

It took hours of scouring through the web before I realized that WIA is related to printer drivers. Luckily it worked. HP really needs to reprogram their drivers. I'm returning mine. HP should be ashamed of themselves for selling this printer with the crappy software they supply.
After spending about 20 hours on the phone with tech support, the best they can come up with is to tell me that these error messages are "a know problem with Windows XP". I now constantly get the following error messages: - svchost.
I tried disabling the WIA service using the command "services. I have been able to scan and print to my HP with no problems so far. Before disabling the service, I had the same problems described elsewhere multiple scvhost. These errors have not reappeared since WIA was disabled. I have XP service pack 2 installed on an HP Pavilion zd, and connect to the internet via a wireless Linksys router.
