I said he could install all 3 in the furthest away room as that would be a good indicator. Post 8 of Post 9 of Post 10 of Of course I understand that. Also if self is allowed then why was this not an option. Post 11 of That was a lie.

Would not let me speak so told him I was not going ahead with the installation. Post 12 of Post 13 of Post 14 of I work in IT infrastructure so I am aware of how wi-fi works and potential issues. I don't think it is the "company line", more a case of complete ignorance on the part of the Help desk. I see you have two choices: a Get an installer to put up a second dish and cabling how you want it - the Sky installer won't give a monkey's. He will probably appreciate it. There may be warranty implications b Soft talk the Sky installer, with coffee and biccies, and maybe a tenner , to fit a second dish and cabling to your requirements.

More risk on this one if he has a lot of calls to make that day. I wanted a cable run to go up into the loft and down an interior wall. Knowing the installer would never do this, i bought some wf from ebay and ran the cable myself. Before i did the install, though, i phoned sky and said i already had multiroom cabling in place and could i self install?. Then a quick call the sky when the box came to pair the card and job was a goodun! What about the essential telephone connections, and the multiroom viewing card?

ALso there are hex LNB's with 6 outputs. Some of the very old LNB's only have 2 cables, but even so a sky engineer could easily replaced it. I have multiroom. Did you actually read the OP correctly - it states "the engineer can ONLY run the 2 new cables from the existing dish" not that the engineer can only run 2 more cables. As for absolute rubbish please provide a link for 6 output hex lnbs as I have never seen one and do not believe they exist. Quite so. The reason I asked was that you did not mention them.

Sky had a lot of problems with customers claiming they had multiroom but infact it was wired into next door so the neighbour didn't have to subscribe to sky. I've worked for a sky homes agent for 8 years that's how I know.

They will keep testing your multiroom box through the phone line to make sure it's connected. Clio Millerdom is correct Ronnie, i recently had a letter from them as i unplugged my multi room box from the phoneline and forgot to plug it back in, they said they would start to charge me another full subscription if i didnt plug the box back in.

Depends on a lot. First, check your dish to see if it has spare ports,it might have a 2way or 4way. If its the 2way, they are quid, and easy to replace, but care needs to be taken while replacing. And all multi room boxes require a telephone or you could end up with a hefty bill. Customers modem failed inside the box, first he knew was a year subscription for 3 extra boxes in his doormat.

Sky came out p, an have him two new 1TB boxes as a gesture of goodwill! Freesat is totally different to a paid subscription from Sky regarding the phone line.

Never mind, didn't read the OP properly! Last edited: Aug 13, Funnily enough I'm doing my mates mums sky today, hers hasn't been plugged in since she got it, and that was years ago. Mito Sportiva Brand86 said:. Sorry mate, made that other thread which you've replied to now thanks btw!
