Our sample MP3 and Connect ATRAC3 tracks sounded quite good overall, especially when we ditched Sony's bass-deficient white earbuds, but the hiss was distracting, notably in quieter tunes. Thankfully, FM radio suffered no such problem, and reception was excellent.
Even deleting songs from the device seemed to take forever: nearly three minutes to remove just two dozen songs. However, the player more than redeemed itself with its incredible battery life of a bit less than 47 hours. That's not quite the 50 hours Sony promises, but it's outstanding all the same. Poorly designed USB cover; awkward controls; tiny screen muddles interface; noticeable hiss during playback; music-store support limited to Sony Connect; slow file transfers. Sony's half-baked Walkman Bean tries hard to be hip, but bad design elements and hissy audio make it one square audio player.
Sony Walkman Bean Sony is working hard to reestablish itself as a leader--or at least a competitor--in the portable music market. Now, with the arrival of the Walkman Bean NW-E series, Sony tackles the iPod Shuffle head-on with hip design, lots more features, amazing battery life, and an affordable price.
It's small and lightweight and fits about any where. I bought this for my son's 16th birthday. He already had an Ipod shuffle and didn't really care for it because you couldn't view the name of the songs when they played. I ordered the black and received the white so I was disappointed when I received it but since it took so long for the seller to respond, my son decided to keep the white. He loaded it immediately- but with 1GB there is still plenty of room for more- said it was easy to use, and loves that he can view the song titles, carry it in his pocket without fear of it breaking it doesn't seem as fragile as the Shuffle , and he thinks its pretty cute too.
He is a tall kid with large hands and he has never complained about the smallness of it or the buttons- in fact he likes that it is easy to handle in one hand. In spite of the color snafu it was definitely a good purchase and his favorite birthday present. Read full review. I bought the bean about 2 months ago. I was originally interested in the ipod, but i tend to lose things and wanted something less expensive, but a good brand.
I own lots of sony products so i checked out reviews on the bean. I was concerned that the storage wouldnt be enough for what i need- i like lots of music. But so far i am pleased. Ive got about on their right now and its pretty full but, some songs are longer so that can make a big difference.
